Hi, I'm Henri and I'm new to this forum. I'm 19 years old and although I was raised in a Belgian Christian way, I quickly, through sceptical thought, reason and logics, figured out I'm definitly an atheist, not believing in a supreme being of any form. Although I must admit, part of me is a bit agnostic. We may have science, but even science never figured out everything to the core, so saying that there is absolutely no way that there is any form of supremecy would be arrogant. But until we have reason to assume that there is, I will not admit to its existence. I would never specify that being as "The God who sent us Christ" or "Allah" or "Jawhé" or wathever. But this agnostic part of mine counts an insignificant to the Atheist part of mine, so I see myself as an atheist.
Why did I join this forum? Because I'm not of those persons that says "I'm an Atheist because I don't believe in God", I want to be able to have discussions about God, or any of the other supreme beings claimed to be out there by religious instances, and understand what drives people into believing. I want to persuade people into free thought, instead of closing their eyes in the name of "faith". I cannot believe that until today teachers get fired in middle America because they wouldn't teach the story of Adam and Eve as a historical fact. I'm terrified that even some of the highest policital powers are driven by believe (or at least say that they are driven by their faith to sugarcoat their actual objectives). Never forget what Marx said, God is there to keep the people dumb, something they have been doing succesfully for ages.
I'm looking forward to meddle in discussions and hope to learn from you, no matter what your religious believes are.
